Do you mean not reading in DTASwin, or not on the physical gauge?
My physical tach takes a pulse direct from my coil - it's not directly connected to the S40.
The only thing I've seen in the software is 'tacho pulses per rev' in engine configuration, general engine settings. I'm batch firing a 4-cyl. and I've got that set to 2. _________________ Renault Clio 16v body, 1.6 8v K7M motor, Rotrex C30-74 |

Not that I've seen - unless you're controlling it from an analogue-out _________________ Renault Clio 16v body, 1.6 8v K7M motor, Rotrex C30-74 |

and you still havent answered.
Is it wired to the DTA or the coil trigger ?
It is highly unlikely to be a DTA problem, more likely a wiring or tacho problem. _________________ 383 LS1, YSi

it is wired into the DTA
I bought this system from someone else who was running it on a similar application, so the loom was pre made and a good fit
the tacho wire comes from the dta multi pin plug and was working the tachop when first installed but has since stopped, i am getting a voltage out of it but can check if this is pulsing |

You would need some sort of scope or pulse meter to check the output, as it will be a triggered ground.
Not quite sure how you are measuring a voltage from it.
Or easiest would be another tacho. _________________ 383 LS1, YSi

emailled DTA and got a very quick response, i basically need to use the coil from a relay to convert the DTA signal into something the rev counter likes
will try it tonight and let you all know |

tried the relay thing and the relay clicked but the rev counter didnt work,
tried another rev counter and that didnot work
tried a resistor on rev counter and that didnot work
email dta.......
apparently i have the wrong type of tacho????? i have asked them what the right type of tacho is? |

You say std 50mm tacho. Most are 80mm. Which make are you using?
Also, have you earthed the tacho and/or the box that the tacho is mounted in?
And does it have a +12V supply? |

Tacho's normally are of 2 types... those that work with points based ignition and those that work with electronic.
E.g Smith's tacho's... Point based ones have code beginning RVI, Electronic start with RVC... (or the other way around, I can't remember).
What make of tacho are you trying to use and are there any part codes on it ? |

its a TIM 50mm tacho that matches all the other 50mm guages in my console
the tacho is earthed and has a 12v input aswell as the tacho signal wire
this is the response from DTA
Most modern electronic devices should work. Stack, Elliot that kind of thing. The tacho output from the ECU is a 12V square wave, 50% duty cycle, you can change the pulses per rev with the software.
i might need to try another type of tacho in there, but the signal is still giving the same on off pulse as a set of points or even the pertronics setup i had in there before - which worked this tacho
have even tried putting the tacho next to the ecu to use the same live feed and earth in case there was some interference |

You stated in your first post that it was working, so something must of changed/broken. _________________ Things will always get faster,
